The Add Game form now accepts multiple stores, so if the game you're adding is on Steam, PlayStation and Nintendo, you can add all 3 at once. Support for Xbox and GOG coming soon.

Along with the help of the new Steam import feature, Moby users added 125,065 games to their game collections in July! And now we have the option to automatically sync your Steam library, so it'll keep your collection up to date when you buy new games on Steam.

Changelog:

  • Added support for multiple stores to the Add Game form
  • Added top player reviews and critic reviews to game overview pages
  • Added "See Also" section on game pages for games with the same title but distinct releases (example: System Shock)
  • Added listing of recent player reviews, with ability to rate them (available via the main menu: Community -> Reviews)
  • Added option to periodic sync steam library to game collections/lists
  • Added list of forum posts by user (available via user profile pages)
  • Added platform links to various game listings
  • Updated UI for release info editor
  • Better error messages for credits submission tool
  • Fixed attributes with missing ordering
  • Admin: Fixed ordering in admin attribute tables
  • Admin: Fixed bug with attribute images being erroneously removed
  • Admin: Now displaying attribute images on attribute list
  • Misc. other bug fixes, UI improvements

Wow, this is a heavy-hitting update!

Multiple stores on the Add Game form is huge! And the "See Also" and list of forum posts by user is SO nice, thank you!

Also great to have the auto-sync with Steam libraries for Collections. Thanks for this update!

Hey great update!

I'm curious, "Top Player reviews" seems to just give you in brackets the total number of player reviews (excluding those where only "x" stars are given), so I don't understand why the use of "Top" Player reviews instead of just "Player reviews". Maybe just to indicate they are not just a simple rating? It's kind of confusing because by Top it would seem like they are the best Reviews using some kind of qualitative method of evaluation of that users aptitude at writing the review...

Another thing is regarding the "Top Critic reviews". I assume by "Top" there you mean the Critics which fulfill certain criteria in the database (as the number displayed is clearly less than the total number of reviews for the game). However, there is no indication of which critics are "Top" (aside from the 2 examples given there on the game's main page). Which criteria did you use to establish Top Critics? I know it isn't necessarily a total of "X" reviews or more from that Critic on Mobygames, because after checking some games, there are some critics which don't qualify as "Top" and others that do, despite having a similar range of let's say 500-700 total reviews on Mobygames. So aside from obviously a very large number of reviews (say maybe 1000) being a factor for inclusion, albeit not definitive, what other criteria have you used?

And, more importantly, is there a way to know which critics are actually the "Top" ones?

Also, when you click on the link provided, say for example "10 Top Critics", it just leads you to the full list of critic reviews for the game. So I'm not sure what the point of the link is.

Anyway I'll get to importing my Steam list now!

The "See Also" section should be collapsed/extendable if there are more than a handful of games. Something like Tetris looks a bit silly otherwise.

Please, fix the issue when publication dates are missing. For example, this issue is happened with screenshots of AirStrike 3D: Operation W.A.T. (2002), Luxor (2005), Chuzzle Deluxe (2005), etc..

This issue appeared when MobyGames was updated on February 21, 2023. Here's the screenshot with annotation how it looks like: https://ibb.co/jvpW6gj

Okay, how about listing the recent player reviews on the home page, which is what happened before the revamp. And why is there no approval process for reviews anymore, but instead they are treated as a free-for-all comments section?

Because they want the site to be flooded with the sort of "reviews" we now see if we check that recent reviews list. And as you see from the placement, under "Community", not under "Browse", they are seen as free-for-all comments, not submissions.

At this moment, need to go to the 10th to find something worth looking at (and then some, in that case, unsurprisingly since it's by krisko6), then maybe the next one would also say something relevant despite being so short, but then just scrolling through crap again for the next five before a few more that are useful... And now you really need to scroooooooooll through them, not just browse a compact list.

Under these circumstances, question is whether you'd even want them on the front page.

Ah well, at least it finally got me to write one I kept putting off for almost a year, for another site, and I won't even copy it here because there's no point. If I wanted to throw random comments among a free-for-all pile I'd post them on Metacritic or whatever...

When submitting a critic review, how about making it possible to add line spaces?

On a different note, any ETA on the return of manual sorting and bulk comment editing for (what are now called) collections?
