Description official descriptions

MegaMania is an arcade action game with gameplay similar to Space Invaders. You control a spaceship at the bottom of the screen and need to defend yourself from numerous waves of attackers. But in MegaMania, the attackers are much more bizarre than invading aliens. There are hamburgers, diamonds, steam irons, bow ties, space dice, and more! You need to earn points by destroying as many of these strange attackers as you can before your energy supply becomes depleted.

A classic Shooter for the 2600

The Good
I have to admit, this was one of my favorite games growing up. It was like Space Invaders on steroids. The various ships break up the monotony existing in other shooters at the time and the unique shapes of the attacking enemies made them more fun to shoot down. Combine that with the unpredictable patterns the ships take and you have for a most fun experience. This is definitely a classic.

The Bad
As with any 2600 game, there is a lot of repetitively and many may find this too boring. Also, this is a difficult game so someone new to the genre may have difficulty getting past some of the first waves.

The Bottom Line
Again, this is like Space Invaders on steroids. The ships attacking you come fast and furious with multiple waves. Each wave gives a new design of attacking ships (each with their own little animation) and a new pattern of movement. These movements, although difficult at first can be mastered through experience.
