Beat 'em up / brawler
Beat 'em ups - also known as Brawlers - focus on close-ranged (melee) combat with a large number of opponents. Usually players can perform multiple combat moves and/or combos to hurt the opponents. These games are usually divided into levels similar to platform games or action games. Beat ‘em ups are not to be confused with Versus Fighting games which offer balanced arena fights between equally balanced teams or single characters.
